MCHE Grave Marker Program
Muhlenberg County History Events (MCHE) is our affiliate volunteer organization which focuses on saving, sharing, and supporting local history preservation efforts and events throughout Muhlenberg County. Friends of Muhlenberg County Cemeteries (FMCC) is excited to send referrals for new Veterans Affairs grave markers to MCHE! MCHE will then work with Veterans Affairs to obtain new grave markers for veterans who died prior to World War 1 and have grave markers in deplorable condition. Do you know of a veteran who served and could use a new upright granite or marble grave marker? If so, please visit Muhlenberg County History Events and check out their "The MCHE Grave Marker Program" page!
Pictured Above: The new grave marker of Henry Short, a private in Company K of the 123rd United States Colored Infantry during the Civil War. He obtained a new grave marker thanks to Veterans Affairs and The MCHE Grave Marker Program. MCHE also planned a ceremony to honor him and seven other USCT veterans who obtained new grave markers through their program.
